Summary
The proposed action is to resolve in a compact volume a private residential program.
The project is developed mainly on the ground floor to promote the relationship of the house with outdoor spaces through gaps as porches and patios. The roof of the building collapses in response to different uses: garage, bedrooms, living room double height and study.
The plan is organized in three parallel functional bands. The central band is occupied by the ground floor lounge, open to the porch on the south facade and a patio on the north side, and a study overlooking the living room, taking advantage of the double height of the roof at that point. The functional band west is occupied by the sleeping area, a single bedroom, double bedroom and the master bedroom has a dressing room and bathroom. All these pieces are lit by Velux windows in roof and facade. The third band contains the parking lot, utility room and utility room, and already inside the house, a bathroom, a covered patio – drying area and kitchen that open to living room and out onto the porch.
Special attention has been put into the project to what we might call visual comfort through visual extending diagonally concatenating different spaces, interior and exterior, providing a greater sense of space: kitchen-living room, patio lounge porch, kitchen, porch, patio-room-studio.
