International Awards Built work
Ebro Environmental Centre has been selected as one of 5 Finalist Projects of Architizer A+ 2014 Awards, New York, USA, among projects presentd from more than 100 countries.
AIT international awards, organized by German architectural publication AIT, to look for, find and acknowledge the best architecture and most outstanding interior design projects in Europe, America, Asia and all other regions of the world. A total of 573 projects from 31 countries have been submitted this year. An international jury selected the best projects and decided which ones are to be honoured with an award or distinction. Bajo Martin County Seat in Hijar (Teruel), by Magen Arquitectos, is nominated as one of the best offices buildings.
The MEA2013 Awards honors the most innovative and creative design solutions that have been completed during the last five years in the Mediterranean zone. The goal is to enhance exchange of ideas on environmentally conscious design, and enrich the ecological sustainability approach. It also aims at highlighting projects that follow the principles of sustainability in architecture mainly through environmentally responsive passive design solutions. Implementation of natural systems and mild technologies is more welcome than high performance applications.
The international jury of the Mediterranean Sustainable Architecture Award MEA2013, composed by Antonio Ortiz, Günkut Akin, Panagiotis Tournikiotis, Ali Abu Ghanimeh and Antoine Zammit, decided to award the first prize in the category civic to the project Ebro Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, of Magén Arquitectos.
The jury of the 6th edition of the International Biennial of Architecture “Barbara Cappochin” has selected the Administrative Building in Híjar (Teruel) of Magén Arquitectos as one of the 40 Best Projects of the International Section of the Biennial 2013:
The National Board of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservation Architects (CNAPPC – Consiglio Nazionale Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori), ANCE-Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili and LEGAMBIENTE promote the RI.U.SO program, involving the leading players in the construction and environmental sectors, to stimulate the architectural, environmental, energetic and social requalification of Italian cities. In this context, the CNAPPC is promoting a selection of the best design projects and innovative realizations in the sector of Sustainable Urban Regeneration, in collaboration with SAIE, Europaconcorsi, Edilio, L’Architetto and Point ZERO.
The jury selected the Ebro Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, by Magén Arquitectos, as one of the 30 selected projects, of more than 400 participants.
Kindergarten Parque Goya has been awarded with the 20+10+X World Architecture Community Awards, 12th cycle.
The “Europe 40 Under 40” program was initiated by The European Center for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum as an annual program to spotlight and identify the next generation of European architects and designers who will impact future living and working environments, cities, and rural areas.
Forty architects and landscape architects and industrial designers were selected this year by a jury of architecture and design practitioners from The European Centre’s International Advisory Committee composed of some of Europe and the United States’ most prestigious architecture and industrial design offices. In this year`s announcement, Magén Arquitectos is part of the selected emerging architectural firms.

Ebro Enviromental Centre has been awarded in the V International Biennial of Architecture “Barbara Cappochin” in Padova (Italy), as winner of the Giancarlo Ius Gold Medal, to the most innovative building in the field of energy saving and integration of renewable energies in building design, organized by Barbara Cappochin Foundation, with the collaboration of Union International of Architects (UIA) and the National Council of Italian Architects (CNAPPC).
The jury “agreed by a majority choose the Ebro Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, which perfectly combines the function of defense and protection of the environment with environmentally sustainable building. Architecture manifests the use that holds, and together, becomes the public space inhabited by the city with the opportunity to use the roof and indoor and outdoor areas such as a meeting place and as a fragment of a new landscape.”

The contractworld.award, International Architectural Award for Innovative Design Interior Concepts, focuses on the latest developments in interior design. Ebro Environmental Centre, by Magén Arquitectos, received Secon Prize in the Category New Generation/Offices.
Magén Arquitectos has been awarded with the First Prize in the Contest SAIE Selection 10, in the Category Young Architects section Wood, with Ebro Environmental Centre. The Contest, on the theme “Integrating to build – Highly integrated innovative and sustainable buildings“ is organized by SAIE Bologna.

The “International Award for Sustainable Architecture Fassa Bortolo” was conceived and promoted by the desire to reward and to introduce a wider audience architectures that are able to interact in a balanced way with the environment, that are designed for human needs and are able to meet the needs of our population, without restricting the indiscriminate consumption of resources and pollution. The jury shortlisted the Ebro Environmental Centre, by Magén Arquitectos.
The jury appreciates that “The project provides a practical and architecturally interesting solution to the relationship between the building and the surrounding urban landscape, particularly given the great public significance of the building in question. It merges well into the topography of the area, forming an extension of the public space inside it and on its roof and also organically connecting the different levels of pre-existing public space.
Parallel to the development of this urban complexity, the project efficiently integrates all the construction elements and technical installations necessary for the functioning of the building from a sustainable functional point of view.”

Bauwelt Preis honours best first buildings by architects in the world. 68 Social Housing in Zaragoza, by Magén Arquitectos, awarded Bauwelt Preis 2007 in Collective Housing category.
National Awards Built work
Magen Arquitectos received the NAN Architectural Awards 2013 in the category dedicated to Renovation, because of the project Transformation of a palatial house in ruins in Cultural Centre “Lyceum” in Alcañiz.
Bajo Martin County Seat has been one of the Selected Projects in Spanish XII Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU XII).
The motto of the XII BEAU, INFLEXION / TURNING POINT, refers to the process of transformation in which Spanish architecture immersed in the present moment. Given this reality, the XII BEAU proposes a reflection on those points that represent this turning point: the need to address sustainable construction, protecting the land and landscape, revitalizing urban centers and transit a policy based on the construction of new buildings to the recycling and reuse of existing structures and resources.

Bajo Martin County Seat has been awarded in the XXVII edition of Fernando Garcia Mercadal Award, by the Institute of Architects of Aragon. The Seat has received an Accesit in the Non-Housing Category.
The jury highlighted “the spacial quality and the material solution to transmit a dignity according to its institutional use”.
Ebro Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, by Magén Arquitectos, has been awarded in the XI Spanish Biennal of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU). The work is one of the fourty Finalists, selected among 734 participants, and Mention in Young Prize.
The jury “appreciates the expertise in response to the issues raised by the project: landscape restoration and integration with the environment; construction as social, urban and environmental commitment; the building and its potential as a public space and energy provider; perception of the place as an experience of architecture and, eventually, sensorial expression of the matter”.
